The role of a Maintenance & Fabric Operative involves a combination of tasks related to the upkeep and repair of buildings, facilities, and equipment. The purpose of this role is to ensure that the physical infrastructure of an organisation is well-maintained, functioning efficiently and meets safety standards.

  • Building Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections of buildings to identify and address fabric maintenance issues. Perform repairs on various building components such as doors, windows, walls, ceiling & floors. Respond promptly to fabric maintenance requests & emergencies.
  • Fabric Maintenance: Work with different types of materials such as wood, metal & plastic to repair and construct building components. Undertake painting, decorating, and a full range of DIY tasks to ensure the meeting of service levels and to maintain an attractive decorative environment.
  • Safety Compliance: Identify and address safety hazards in the workplace. Ensure that all maintenance and repair activities comply with relevant safety regulations. Participate in safety training programs and promote a safe working environment.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections and preventive maintenance. Document the use of resources, such as materials, to ensure efficient and effective operation.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with other team members, line managers & relevant stakeholders regarding maintenance issues & activities. Provide feedback on the condition of facilities and equipment. Communicate with other maintenance professionals, contractors & service providers as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to maintain processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

In addition to the tasks described above, the job holder may be required to carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.

Comprehensive fabric experience. Sound understanding and experience of meeting health and safety procedures & requirements, including COSHH, Working at height, Risk Assessments etc. Good customer relationship skills. Understand and interpret technical drawings/instructions/processes. Able to organise self to manage assigned task & determine material requirements.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm (1 hour unpaid lunch).

Salary: £30k depending on experience.
