Purpose of the Role

The Internal Cleaning Operative works in collaboration with other team members to clean and maintain the Trafford Centre. You are responsible for the day-to-day cleaning of specifically agreed areas to the required standards, delivering deep cleaning, maintenance cleaning, and scheduled cleaning of the Centre common and back of house areas. You will be expected to operate cleaning machines (after training) and have the ability to work both individually and within a team. You will be capable of carrying out your duties without constant supervision and be proactive in ensuring your area of responsibility meets the highest possible standards of cleanliness and safety. You should have excellent attention to detail and a desire to do your job to the best of your abilities, always presenting a professional, friendly image.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop close working relationships with supervision to fully understand the needs of the business.
  • Support Centre Management in driving best practice with all aspects of the job role.
  • Work closely with all the operational teams to ensure the best standards are adhered to.
  • Promote our operational focus on compliance, communication, consistency, and collaboration in all you deliver.
  • Be an ambassador for the Centre and for environmental services, ensuring that you deliver consistently high standards of customer service at all times.

Cleaning Duties

  • Ensure all assigned areas are cleaned to the required standards, including public spaces, back-of-house areas, toilets, staff facilities, and offices.
  • Maintain and use cleaning machinery properly, including scrubber dryers, rotary scrubbers, pressure washers, vacuum cleaning machines, etc.
  • Ensure equipment and machinery is maintained, cleaned, and ready for use.
  • Report any equipment breakdowns or damage immediately.
  • Empty and clean bins when necessary, sorting waste into appropriate containers for recycling.
  • Complete scheduled, maintenance, and deep cleaning tasks across various areas.
  • Record completed tasks and manage spillages through the relevant tracking platform.

General

  • Ensure designated areas are clean, stocked, and supply rooms are maintained.
  • Operate machinery safely using guides and check sheets, ensuring protective gear is always worn.
  • Conduct regular cleaning inspections and adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a good standard of personal appearance and remain flexible with shift assignments as needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Person Specification

  • Must be physically capable to handle heavy equipment and perform repetitive tasks.
  • A positive and approachable manner.
  • Friendly, confident, and adaptable, with a willingness to embrace new ideas and processes.
  • The capacity to be self-motivated with strong organisational skills and initiative.
  • The ability to be an effective communicator, with good verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • 1 to 3 years’ proven experience working as a cleaner or transferable abilities within another field.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage, and disposal methods.

Desirable

  • Cleaning related qualifications such as BICS.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures relating to cleaning.
  • Excellent customer care skills.

Working Hours - Full-time 40hrs

Salary - £26,208.00
