Purpose of the Role

Role: Typically includes cleaning duties and specifically waste movements following the site segregation protocols and taking all waste to the designated waste storage area(s). Cleaning may include (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Deal with the waste collections.
  • 1100L bins to be taken from the carpark up in the lifts. The waste provider will inform the site when they arrive, and the operative waits while they are emptied and then returns them to the carpark.
  • In instances where the waste supplier is late, the operative may need to place the bins in the lift in preparation for collection.
  • Check balcony daily and sweep any debris accordingly if required.
  • Check front steps from ground to basement daily and sweep any debris accordingly if required.
  • Litter pick car park daily; full sweep weekly if required.
  • Clean and buff front entrance black doors (2) daily (smear free).
  • Mop front steps if inclement weather or freezing temperatures cease operation.
  • Clean showers once a week (this may extend to daily as directed by the client).
  • Check staircases daily for debris and dust, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
  • Spot clean stains on carpets when the vax carpet machine arrives (initially for staircases only).
  • Take fruit to the 4th floor when it arrives to assist the HK team.
  • Undertake coffee cleaning duties as defined by the client and trained by the HK.
  • Check and polish brass on main staircases, push plates, and door handles.

Waste will include:

  • Placing waste in the appropriate waste stream.
  • Cardboard collections.
  • Recycling and other non-hazardous waste.

This list is not exhaustive but provides examples of tasks by schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to work independently in the cleaning tasks as inducted and trained upon.
  • Understanding the H&S requirements to ensure safety for yourself and others entering your work area at all times.
  • Timekeeping; hours are fixed.
  • To undertake cleaning duties in areas as directed by the Site.
  • To report maintenance issues immediately, e.g., broken equipment, defective lighting, or any H&S issues.
  • To inform the Site Manager about ordering and maintaining cleaning equipment stock.
  • To clean and maintain communal areas within the site, including cleaning surfaces, vacuuming, dusting, external area sweeping, and mopping as required.
  • To have an understanding and comply with all COSHH regulations.
  • To work within the relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • To attend training courses as identified and agreed for appropriate development.
