Hardware design of electrical control systems. Involving three phase motor control and electro-hydraulic equipment. Supporting the electronics department design team. Reporting to the Control Systems Manager and working as part of the design team you will be responsible for the design and integration of a range of electrical and electronic control and monitoring equipment, generally PLC or PC based.
Key Accountabilities
- To provide electrical control system hardware design to customer requirements by defined dates.
- To provide clear, accurate communication in all aspects relating to electrical system design.
- To minimise costs through not over specifying control system solutions.
- To constantly strive to improve electronics department team performance and technical understanding.
- Specify suitable electrical control equipment and components.
- Produce test procedures and methods.
- Assist with system integration and test.
- Assist in hardware design of electrical control equipment.
- Identify suppliers of suitable equipment and components.
- Liaise at technical level with sub-contract suppliers of equipment.
- Prepare drawings and parts lists of control system designs.
- Assist with risk assessment of control system design.
- Maintain team cover for other members of electronics design team.
- Train other members of electronics design team as necessary.
- These tasks are a guide for the position; from time to time it will be necessary to undertake other duties in support of the business.
- Assemble and test small electrical control panels, if and when required.
- Assist hydraulic engineers on service and other work at customer’s sites.
- Occasional overseas travel will be required.
- Manage workload to ensure deadlines are met.
- Visit customer sites to support breakdowns and maintenance.
- Have knowledge of British standards and regulations for machine safety.

- Ensure that constructive working relationships are built and maintained.
- Ensure that all H&S requirements are understood and met within team offices.
