The predicted salary is between 35000 - 45000 € per year.

The Energy Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality non-domestic energy audits and technical assessments across a range of client buildings. The primary focus of the role is on-site energy auditing, analysis, and reporting, supporting clients to identify practical, cost-effective energy and carbon reduction opportunities. The role will involve conducting building surveys to recognised industry standards (e.g. ASHRAE Level 2, RIBA Stages 0–3, BS EN 16247), producing clear and credible audit reports, and supporting compliance requirements such as ESOS and non-domestic EPCs. The Energy Engineer will work as part of the consultancy delivery team, contributing technical insight and robust analysis to support decarbonisation strategies and future project development, initially without overall design ownership or line management responsibility, but with the opportunity to grow and develop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Energy Auditing & Site Assessments
    • Undertake detailed non-domestic energy audits across a range of building types.
    • Carry out site surveys to identify energy efficiency and decarbonisation opportunities across: HVAC and building services, Lighting and controls, Building fabric (high-level), Renewables and low-carbon technologies, Water efficiency (where applicable).
    • Deliver audits aligned to ASHRAE Level 2, RIBA Stages 0–3, and BS EN 16247 standards.
    • Collect and validate on-site data, including plant condition, operational profiles, and energy use patterns.
  • Energy Analysis & Reporting
    • Analyse energy consumption data, utility bills, and operational information.
    • Quantify energy, carbon, and cost-saving opportunities with clear assumptions.
    • Produce clear, well-structured audit reports suitable for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Support the development of ESOS-compliant assessments, working under a Lead Assessor where required.
    • Contribute technical inputs into decarbonisation plans and building strategies.
  • Compliance & Certification Support
    • Support delivery of ESOS energy audits, including site assessments, analysis, and evidence packs.
    • Undertake non-domestic EPC assessments (where accredited).
    • Ensure audit outputs align with relevant standards, methodologies, and internal quality requirements.
    • Maintain accurate audit records and supporting documentation.
  • Collaboration & Project Support
    • Work closely with Senior Engineers and Consultants to support wider project delivery.
    • Provide technical input to feasibility studies and early-stage project development.
    • Liaise professionally with clients during site visits and audit delivery.
    • Support continuous improvement of audit methodologies, tools, and templates.
    • Present audit reports and findings with Carbon Mentors directly to clients.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Building Services, Energy, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering non-domestic energy audits.
  • Strong understanding of building services systems (HVAC, lighting, controls).
  • Experience working to ASHRAE Level 2, BS EN 16247, or equivalent audit standards.
  • Ability to analyse energy data and translate findings into clear recommendations.
  • Strong written communication skills with experience producing technical reports.
  • Willingness to travel nationally for site-based work.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting or delivering ESOS assessments.
  • Non-domestic EPC Assessor accreditation.
  • Familiarity with RIBA Stages 0–3 in the context of building assessments.
  • Awareness of ISO 50001, SECR, or UK decarbonisation frameworks.
  • Experience using energy modelling or analysis tools.
