AI Engineer in London

Save My Exams is a rapidly growing EdTech business looking for an ambitious AI Engineer to join our remote‐first, customer‐obsessed startup. We improve the lives of millions of students every year and aim to disrupt a $7tn+ market.

We are building an industry‐leading AI platform and need someone who can deliver real user‐facing products while staying at the cutting edge of machine learning.

• Strong professional experience developing products that solve real user problems.
• Track record of successfully delivering data‐science projects, demonstrating mastery of machine‐learning fundamentals.
• Strong Python programming skills with clean, maintainable, production‐ready code.
• Experience building products around LLMs or other generative AI.
• Balanced understanding of the risks involved in AI product development.
• User‐centric mindset and ownership of the product and code you ship to students.
• Test‐and‐learn mindset.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Operational AI experience: building robust APIs, hosting and maintaining models.
• Recommender system development and deployment.
• Web development experience with TypeScript, Next.js, React, Express, Postgres.
• Experience in the EdTech or education industry.

Over the next 12 months, you’ll:

• Experiment rapidly, applying modern AI techniques across various problem areas.
• Create deliverables easily integrated into our product, suggest off‐the‐shelf tooling, and monitor results.
• Manage AI tool risk, including accuracy and alignment concerns.
• Understand our business, students, and content, making autonomous decisions.
• Collaborate across teams to identify, prioritise, and iteratively solve problems.
