A VC-backed biotech diagnostics platform is entering a pivotal phase of its journey, transitioning from early-stage scientific development into commercialisation and scale-up. Having secured initial seed funding, the business has established a strong scientific foundation and is now seeking a commercially driven CEO to unlock its full market potential and deliver a defined value creation and exit strategy within a 24-month horizon.

This is an opportunity to lead from the front - shaping strategy, building capability, and driving the business towards a successful liquidity event.

The CEO will take full ownership of the business, with a clear mandate to commercialise the underlying science and scale the platform.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define and execute a commercialisation and growth strategy
  • Translate scientific innovation into a scalable, revenue-generating business model
  • Lead fundraising activity (as required to support growth)
  • Establish and develop strategic partnerships across pharma, diagnostics, and research organisations
  • Build and lead a high-calibre leadership team
  • Drive market positioning and go-to-market strategy
  • Work closely with investors to prepare and execute an exit

Candidate Profile:

This role requires a proven leader with experience operating at the intersection of science and commercial delivery.

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a CEO or senior executive within an early-stage biotech/life sciences business
  • Track record of commercialising scientific or technical IP
  • Experience scaling businesses through early growth phases
  • Strong fundraising and investor engagement experience
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment

Desirable:

  • Background in oncology, diagnostics, or biomarker-led platforms
  • Experience navigating regulatory and clinical pathways
  • Prior involvement in a successful exit or liquidity event

What Success Looks Like:

  • Transition from R&D-led to commercially focused organisation
  • Delivery of early revenue traction and repeatable income streams
  • Establishment of strategic partnerships with key industry players
  • Strengthened IP and clinical validation
  • Clear positioning for a successful exit within 24 months

Package: £100k base salary, meaningful equity participation aligned to value creation, significant upside linked to a defined exit event.

Why Join:

  • Lead a high-potential biotech platform at a critical inflection point
  • Opportunity to drive end-to-end value creation
  • Direct exposure to investors and strategic decision-making
  • Equity-driven upside with a clear and time-bound exit strategy
