An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly capable and experienced Head of Financial Accounting to join a well-established not-for-profit organisation based in Hampshire. This key leadership role will be responsible for managing the organisation’s financial accounting activities, overseeing statutory financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements. You’ll lead a team of qualified and part-qualified accountants, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of statutory financial statements and external financial returns for multiple legal entities.
- Manage the year-end external audit process, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Develop and maintain robust financial accounting policies in line with the latest standards (FRS 102, SORP) and industry best practice.
- Provide technical accounting advice to senior stakeholders.
- Oversee balance sheet management.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process optimisation and system enhancements.
About You:
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Strong technical expertise in financial accounting, consolidated statutory reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrable track record of leading external audits and producing statutory accounts within a complex organisation.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop finance teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly and effectively.
