There is an opportunity for a talented social worker to join our team. We are looking for ambitious, experienced children’s social workers to join our family assessment centre in Hendon, London. All applicants should be as passionate as we are about protecting children, giving parents the needed support and putting children and families at the heart of decision-making. Job Purpose
To work with children, families, other agencies and the community to improve the lives of children and families, enabling them to be independent, safe and remain together where possible, receiving the right intervention and support when needed.
Successful Applicant will have:
- A Social Work qualification & HCPC registration, with at least 2 years’ experience on the job.
- Experience of handling complex children and families court cases and/or experience of child protection investigations.
- A breadth of experience, including managing, monitoring and chairing children’s plans; coordinating multi-agencies, writing excellent, accurate and concise reports and engaging with and building relationships with children and families.
- An understanding of the impact of abuse, social deprivation and disadvantage on children, young people and their families.
- Knowledge of children’s social care theory, legislation and practice in relation to working in a statutory children's setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of the application of safeguarding principles and a good understanding of the nature of the work and the difficult and complex decisions required to promote a child's welfare.
- The ability to produce concise and accurate written work including reports and case records to deadline.
- The ability to analyse information and make appropriate decisions and judgments for the welfare of children and their families.
- The ability to make the best use of the knowledge, support and expertise of managers, colleagues and other professionals.
- Resilience with the ability to manage the emotional impact of the work, actively making use of appropriate support.
- The ability to integrate and apply social work knowledge, values and skills to practice situations in a purposeful, intentional, ethical and professional manner to promote well-being.
- The ability to act with integrity and impartiality, promoting a working environment that supports our values.
- A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Be able to safely transport children and families as and when this is needed.
- Flexibility in working arrangements/hours to meet operational requirements including responding to emergencies.
