To work closely alongside the homes manager to assist in the running of the home on a day-to-day basis. To provide advice, assistance and support to young people, safeguarding their welfare at all times. To attend to their practical, physical and emotional needs. To act as an appropriate role model and to work closely with them to enable them to address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential. To support Residential Childcare Workers and the team leaders in their role, including mentoring and supervision.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- To offer informal and practical support to all families in placement to ensure they feel safe and secure, following the company’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
- To use a non-judgemental, positive and empowering approach with families.
- Establishing positive relationships with families and always offering them unconditional and positive regard.
- Acting as a role model and demonstrating appropriate ways of dealing with problems.
- Helping families gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour.
- Promoting and building positive relationships with families.
- Ensuring that each family’s care plan is followed and updated as appropriate to reflect their changing needs.
- Work alongside emergency services, on-call, out of hours support and external professionals.
- To use internal database for record keeping and monitoring.
Provide support to the management team:
- Supervision of staff.
- Shift Leading.
- Day to day responsibilities for shifts/team.
- Rota planning.
- Liaising with professionals.
- Deputising in manager's absence.
- Out of hours on call rota.
- Attend meetings in the manager's absence.
- Attending professional meetings in manager's absence.
- Assisting Manager with external audits – Reg 25, OFSTED.
- Complete incident de-briefs.
- Ensuring plans, risk assessments are updated and overseeing the updates.
General:
- Responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with the requirements of the homes Health and Safety Policies.
- Being aware of the aims and objectives of the home and working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve them.
- Taking responsibility for mentoring the staff team and helping develop their skills.
- Attending team/staff meetings and making a positive contribution to them.
- Actively contributing to the development of the team.
- Receiving and storing information to improve communication.
- Participating in shift handovers.
- Being willing to give and receive feedback on performance with colleagues and managers.
- Attending and contributing to regular supervision/probation/appraisal meetings.
- Cleaning communal areas of the property including kitchen, bathrooms, hallways, office etc.
- Responsibility for the accurate maintenance of financial records appropriate to the duties of the post.
- Safeguarding of Children and colleagues and referring on any causes for concern (Whistleblowing).
- Being familiar with all policies and procedures and adhering to them.
- Driving company vehicles (current driving licence holders subject to procedures).
- Receiving training appropriate to role and maintaining an up-to-date training profile.
- To carry out all duties in line with the company’s equality & diversity policy.
- To carry out all other reasonable tasks as directed by Management.
