The Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining the mechanical equipment, electrical, instrument and process assets associated with the effluent treatment plant on a client site. The Technician will take on an active role in utilising a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for onsite Maintenance. The ETP O&M Technician will be expected to monitor the plant and implement any operational changes that are required. The Technician will also prepare the plant for Planned & Corrective Maintenance tasks as required. The ETP O&M Technician will also be expected to carry out the required analytical testing & input this data onto a computer-based system to monitor and record plant performance; training will be given.
In addition, the ETP O&M Technician will carry out more complex maintenance of equipment, such as cleaning/calibration of process instruments, servicing pumps, replacing valves as necessary and generally ensuring the process assets are maintained in as good condition as possible. The role also requires that the assets are operated at optimum performance at all times and the Technician will form part of a team framework to assist in this task. The role requirements are the safe & seamless operation of the ETP in accordance with the regulatory consent and without interruption to the customer’s production activities. The job will involve working on a standby rota for responding to plant alarms and process monitoring out of normal working hours and weekends. Full process training will be provided to the Technician but it is expected that the candidate will already have demonstrable experience in operating and maintaining industrial equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work within the client and NSI HSE systems.
- Visible ownership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within NSI.
- Procure external supplies/services.
- Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and NSI.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, NSI colleagues and sub-contractor staff.
- Proactively manage external relationships with the client, sub-contractors and regulators (if required).
- Innovate in the workplace to bring improvement and opportunity.
- Identify faults, evaluate solutions and implement agreed actions.
- Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the ETP on the site.
- Utilise plant information, identify any changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems.
- Make recommendations to return plant to its optimum condition.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices and 5S Standards.
- Work unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
- Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other NSI staff.
- Undergo training as required.
- Identify your training needs to the Operations Manager.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential):
- NVQ Level 2 (Process Operations) or equivalent. Optionally the candidate can demonstrate at least 3 years experience in operating and maintaining process equipment in an Industrial environment.
- Electrical Certified.
- Computer Literacy.
- Ability and knowledge to complete repairs and maintain plant.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable):
- Demonstrate through experience, an ability to interpret technical information & make changes on industrial plant.
- Operational knowledge of wastewater treatment plant.
- Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system.
- Knowledge of Water and Wastewater treatment plants.
- Training in Environmental Health and Safety.
- Health & Safety certificate.
Working for us means:
- The salary is up to £40,000 per year, depending on your professional experience.
- Hours of Work - 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday.
- 1 in 3 Standby - £25.00 per day.
- Overtime - 1.5
- Holidays - 25 days + 8 statutory days.
- Probationary Period - 6 months.
