The Water / Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Laboratory Technician is a fixed-term position (6 months, July to December) supporting our site team at Ledbury, which treats wastewater from beverage manufacturing. The Technician will be responsible for the safe and efficient testing of water samples from various stages of the effluent treatment process to assess treatment effectiveness and verify the quality of the final effluent prior to discharge. Full training will be provided.
The role involves conducting routine analyses using photo-spectrometry, test kits, and measurements of solids, pH, temperature, and conductivity. Ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and adherence to procedures is essential, along with maintaining data integrity and laboratory hygiene.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle samples carefully from collection to disposal.
- Perform routine analysis following HSE protocols safely.
- Ensure testing accuracy and compliance with SOPs.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and cleanliness.
- Follow directives from the Site Team Leader.
- Optimize use of consumables to reduce waste.
- Calibrate equipment daily as required.
- Record data accurately and ensure data quality.
- Adhere to PPE and health & safety guidelines.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential):
- GCSEs in English, Math, Science.
- Further education in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
- Strong numeracy, literacy, and computer skills.
- High accuracy in measurements and weighing.
- Knowledge of laboratory health & safety (COSHH, Risk Assessments).
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
- A’ Level / HNC in a science discipline.
- Experience in water, wastewater, or food & beverage industries.
Working for us means:
- Salary between £25,500 and £27,000 per year, depending on experience.
- 6-month contract.
- 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday.
- Overtime at 1.5x.
- 25 days + 8 statutory holidays.
- Probation period of 6 months.

- Notice period of 1 week during probation, 1 month thereafter.
