Our client, a leading player in the creative and media sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to take ownership of a high-profile client portfolio and a business unit. This is a hands-on role with real scope to influence commercial strategy and make a measurable impact across the business.
You’ll oversee the commercials for multiple smaller companies, manage a selection of key clients, and lead a Client Accountant team of three, who handle billing, debtors, cashflow, and WIP. This is an operational and strategic position, combining leadership with direct financial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full commercial ownership of your client portfolio, ensuring forecasting, approvals, and profitability are accurate and actionable.
- Work closely with business units to review rate cards, approve resourcing, and run regular fee and performance meetings.
- Support new business pitches with clear, accurate commercial data and insights.
- Oversee WIP reviews, debtors, credit insurance, and cashflow forecasting.
- Lead and develop a team of three Client Accountants, managing workloads and supporting professional growth.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, streamline processes, and provide actionable insights to the wider business.
- Conduct monthly, weekly, and annual finance reviews, plus 6-month KPI check-ins.
- Build strong relationships across the business and act as the main point of contact for commercial finance operations.
- Provide financial oversight and day-to-day management for smaller business entities, including purchases, contracts, and operational support.
Experience & Skills needed
- Ideally 8+ years of experience in finance, preferably within advertising, media, or the creative sector.
- Proven management experience—not just mentoring—leading small teams effectively.
- Hands-on experience managing billing, WIP, and financial processes across multiple entities.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance strategic and operational priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and confident working with senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of WIP, debtors, credit control, cashflow management, and financial reporting.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is a plus but not essential.
Why This Role is Great
- Join a well-respected creative and media business where finance is central to decision-making.
- High level of autonomy, visibility, and opportunity to influence business performance.
- Make a tangible impact across multiple entities and client portfolios in a dynamic environment.
