A reputable global manufacturer of cutting tools is seeking an experienced and driven Area Sales Engineer to grow and support customers across the South East. This is a key commercial role for a self-starter with strong technical understanding of metal cutting and machining processes, ideally gained within aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, or precision engineering environments. You’ll be responsible for developing new business, strengthening existing relationships, and delivering sustainable sales growth across a high-potential region.
Key Responsibilities
- Track, manage, and report on sales performance, ensuring targets are consistently achieved.
- Maintain and expand business with existing customers, including key accounts in the cutting-tool sector.
- Identify, qualify, and convert new business opportunities across the region.
- Prepare quotations and follow up to secure orders.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to meet customer requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to increase market penetration and regional sales performance.
- Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions, and industry events.
About You
- Time-served engineer or strong technical background in machining, metal cutting, or related industries.
- Experience in aerospace, oil & gas, or automotive sectors is advantageous.
- Proven sales experience with the ability to build trust and credibility quickly.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a resourceful, proactive approach.
- Competent with IT systems and sales reporting tools.
- Excellent communication skills with confidence presenting to customers and groups.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South East.
