We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Class A CDL Driver to handle local pickups and deliveries within a 100-mile radius of our warehouse. This is a home-daily position with no overnight stays, consistent routes, and predictable schedules. You will be responsible for safely transporting freight, performing pickups from suppliers/vendors, and making deliveries to customers while maintaining excellent service and compliance with all regulations including Satellite standards and complying with all relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle (tractor-trailer, straight truck, or similar) to pick up and deliver freight within a 100-mile radius.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any issues immediately.
- Load and unload cargo (may include manual handling, using pallet jacks, or forklift assistance depending on the load).
- Verify load accuracy, secure cargo properly, and ensure delivery documentation is complete.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules to meet on-time pickup and delivery requirements.
- Provide professional customer service during deliveries and pickups, including communication with dispatch, customers, and receivers.
- Maintain accurate logs, delivery records, and electronic logging device (ELD) entries (if applicable; many local 100-mile radius roles qualify for exemptions).
- Adhere to all DOT, FMCSA, state, and company safety regulations, including hours-of-service rules.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or safety concerns promptly.
- Keep the vehicle clean and in good operating condition.
- Downtime will be utilized by Warehouse activities.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record (no major violations in the past 3–5 years, depending on employer).
- Minimum 1–2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience (Class A preferred; recent experience strongly preferred).
- Must be at least 21 years old (or 23 for some carriers).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Ability to pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen, background check, and physical exam.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
- Good communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Ability to handle physical demands, including lifting up to 50–75 lbs occasionally and climbing in/out of the cab.
- Reliable transportation to/from the terminal.
Compensation: The pay range listed is the base pay range that Satellite Shelters, Inc./Satellite Industries, Inc. reasonably expects to pay someone for this position (compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including but not limited to, a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, location and end client requirements).
