We have an exciting opportunity for a Telecoms Systems Engineer to join the Ubiquitous Communication (UC) engineering department to work on telecommunications and satellite technologies (TN and NTN). The role will involve applying system engineering principles to address real‑world challenges faced by businesses across the UK and abroad.

Responsibilities

  • Technical delivery on projects involving satellite and terrestrial networks, including 5G, 6G, and satellite‑enabled 5G.
  • Technical consultancy to businesses, universities, and R&D centres.
  • Engagement with external stakeholders and collaboration on joint research.
  • Integration and testing of satellite telecommunications payloads and ground segments.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Satellite Communications, Telecommunications systems or a related discipline.
  • Ideally 5+ years of experience in the satellite communications domain.
  • Knowledge of full end‑to‑end satellite communication network architecture and implementation.
  • Experience with spacecraft subsystems, particularly telecommunications payloads.
  • Knowledge of satellite communication core network and ground segment architectures.
  • Hands‑on experience with integration of satellite telecommunication payloads, ground stations or embedded systems.
  • Experience contributing to bids for collaborative/commercial projects.
  • Familiarity with FPGA, DSP development, Linux, coding/script usage.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
