The Role
As a PCV Shunter (General Service Operative), you will play an essential role in ensuring our fleet operates smoothly and efficiently. Key responsibilities include:
- Process vehicles upon their return to the depot, ensuring they are handled safely and correctly.
- Move and manoeuvre buses and vehicles within the depot and on public roads, following instructions from the allocator and adhering to the designated parking plan.
- Carry out visual vehicle checks, identify any damage or defects, and report issues promptly.
- Ensure all windows are closed before vehicles enter the bus wash (where applicable).
- Remove graffiti from the exterior of vehicles to maintain high presentation standards.
- Adjust and reposition both side mirrors immediately after vehicles exit the bus wash.
- Carry out exterior wheel and bodywork cleaning as required.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, company policies, and operational instructions.
- Use digital reporting tools to record information accurately.
- Carry out banksman duties when appropriately trained and authorised.
- Support additional depot duties in line with the responsibilities of a General Service Operative (GSO).
Essential Requirements:
- Delivering timely, efficient, and courteous service on customer sites.
- Commitment to safe working practices and compliance with procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining vehicle standards.
- Full UK PCV (D category) driving licence.
