The Role
As a Hygiene Operations Supervisor, you will oversee the smooth delivery of washroom hygiene services, ensuring operations run efficiently and to the highest standards. You will lead and support your team, manage workflows, and ensure strict compliance with hygiene, quality, and health & safety regulations. Working closely with the Hygiene Manager, you will play a key role in implementing customer contracts, optimising processes, and resolving issues promptly to exceed service expectations. You will also monitor budgets, stock levels, and resources, while providing hands-on support when needed, ensuring resilience across the department and contributing to the long-term success of Sasse UK.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee daily washroom hygiene services, ensuring processes run smoothly and efficiently.
- Recruit, train, and lead staff, manage schedules, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Provide suitable cover for sickness and holidays.
- Lead the recruitment process, including drafting job descriptions, posting advertisements, screening candidates, and participating in interviews with support from the Hygiene Manager and Operations Managers.
- Implement and monitor quality checks to ensure hygiene service standards are consistently achieved and maintained.
- Track inventory of detergents, chemicals, and hygiene supplies, placing orders as necessary while working within strict departmental budgets.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conduct risk assessments, and manage the safe handling of sharps, clinical, and hazardous waste.
- Work closely with the Hygiene Manager to respond to customer enquiries and complaints, ensuring service expectations are met and issues are resolved promptly.
- Maintain accurate operational records, including production reports, hygiene service logs, and inventory tracking, to support month-end reporting.
- Assist in managing the operational budget for laundry and hygiene services, tracking expenses and working within department guidelines.
Essential Requirements:
- Consistently demonstrate a professional attitude when interacting with staff, clients, and the general public.
- Ability to identify and address issues promptly while maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- ILM L3 or L3 desirable OR minimum 2 years experience in a supervisor / leadership role. Training in Laundry & hygiene operations is also preferable.
- Valid driver's license and a willingness to travel is essential to this role.
- Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to achieve a Government Security Vetting application to a level of NPPV L3 SC, which will be paid for by the company.
