The Position: Applications are invited for an Apprentice Welder Fabricator based at our SARVAL, Hartshill site. This is a full time, permanent position working 40 hours per week.

As an Apprentice Welder Fabricator, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Learning to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Learning to accurately measure and mark out materials using engineering measuring equipment.
  • Assisting with measuring, cutting, shaping and preparing metal materials for fabrication.
  • Assisting with the assembly, fitting and alignment of fabricated components under the supervision of experienced engineers.
  • Learning and developing practical welding skills using MIG, TIG and MMA (Arc) welding techniques, where applicable.
  • Assisting in inspecting completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and engineering specifications.
  • Assisting with the repair and maintenance of metal structures, machinery and equipment components.
  • Safely using and maintaining hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment following appropriate training.
  • Following all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) procedures, company policies and safe working practices at all times.
  • Providing support to the engineering team during planned maintenance and repair activities.
  • Carrying out general workshop duties, including housekeeping, material handling and equipment preparation.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Working towards successfully completing a relevant Welder Fabricator Apprenticeship while developing practical skills and technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrating a positive attitude towards learning by seeking feedback, asking questions and actively participating in training and development opportunities.

You will be required to undertake additional company training in other disciplines to further develop and complement a full skill set needed for the role. We will support you as part of a structured Apprenticeship programme where you will attain a Level 3 qualification on a day release basis.

The Person: Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths (or equivalent). Full Clean UK Driving Licence. Positive, hands-on and proactive approach to work. Willingness to learn and develop new skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable, punctual and safety conscious.

Salary: Apprentice rates depending on age.
