We are looking for a Purchase Ledger Administrator to join our finance team in Royston. You will have previous experience with purchase ledger and be able to build excellent relationships with people internally and externally.

This role is full‑time based at our site in Royston with hybrid working available. You will be responsible for all aspects of the purchase ledger, playing a vital role in the monthly management accounts and year‑end statutory accounts.

Responsibilities
  • Full responsibility of the purchase ledger and verification of accuracy of all postings including full accountability of end‑of‑year records.
  • Set up and amend vendor records in the SAP system.
  • Work as part of a team that covers 8 entities across the UK & Ireland.
  • Process planned (purchase orders) and unplanned (non‑purchase order) supplier invoices according to Sartorius authorization and approval structure via SAP X‑Flow system.
  • Amend bank details in line with Sartorius Fraud Control policy.
  • Prepare month‑end accounts payable reconciliations including reconciliation of supplier statements.
  • Finance approval of personal and company credit card staff expenses via Concur, managing employee queries.
  • Issue corporate cards and virtual credit cards; responsible for paying the external corporate card provider’s invoices and managing employee queries.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with suppliers and manage supplier expectations.
  • Respond to supplier queries by phone and email, and internal queries interacting with Procurement and other departments.
  • Control and maintain the GR/IR account (goods received not invoiced / invoice and no GRN), manage down payments and debit balances.
  • Process daily supplier BACS payments, ad‑hoc manual/urgent payments.
  • Actively participate in monthly balance sheet reconciliation meetings.
  • Provide holiday cover for other team members.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A levels in Maths and English.
  • Previous experience with purchase ledger or accounts.
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience is beneficial.
  • Previous experience with expenses and credit card management.
  • Intermediate level experience using Excel.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, able to take ownership of varied processes and tasks.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Keen to learn new skills and processes.
  • Good at working independently as well as a team player.
  • Experience with SAP and Concur is desirable.
  • Right to work in the UK.
