Join our Product Development team in Royston near Cambridge as an Electrical and Electronic Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the electrical engineering aspects of product development and lifecycle support, conducting prototype and development activities. The team currently consists of 6 professionals and we are looking forward to shaping the future with you. This position is available and will be based at our Royston site with hybrid working available.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of our products through knowledge of performance requirements, including all aspects of the product design criteria, product function and customer needs.
- Provide electrical solutions that provide AC and DC electrical power distribution, comms networks and distribution electrical control systems.
- Apply and use electrical engineering principles in the creation of designs and solutions that meet the systems stipulated requirements.
- Use AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPlan electrical CAD tools to capture electrical engineering designs.
- Ensure quality in a product's design for usability, reliability, functionality, marketability and manufacturability, and support efforts to test, verify and validate new product designs.
- Ensure that all electrical solutions are engineered and designed in accordance with necessary regulations and standards including EU Low Voltage Directive, UK Electrical Equipment Safety Regulations and USA NFPA 79.
- Design to cost and design for manufacturability in order to support project leaders in achieving project objectives.
- Work with other departments cross-functionally such as Project Management, Product Development, R&D, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Development Scientist teams.
- Support the organisation's IP strategy by documenting data and independent unique and patentable ideas that result from experimentations and concept generation activities.
What will convince us
- You will have achieved a qualification equivalent to HND or higher in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
- You have experience in electrical and electronic product design and development with an understanding of the product life cycle, ideally in laboratory automation or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment following ISO/IEC and/or GMP standards; though candidates from other industries will also be considered.
- Hands-on experience in electrical and electronic engineering in prototyping, engineering design and testing.
- Working knowledge of global electrical regulations and international standards (e.g., EN12100, EN 60204, IEC 61010-1).
- Strong documentation and communications skills (plans, requirements, drawings, design reviews and test methods).
- Adaptable, self-motivated and proactive team player with good problem-solving skills.
