We are looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join our Engineering team in Royston. At the site, we manufacture a range of electro-mechanical equipment for bioprocessing | Ambr range of bioreactors. In this role, you will be responsible for testing all electrical, electronic and mechanical parts of completed sub-assemblies or products. You will be working within a team of experienced technicians and engineers and collaborating with the rest of the engineering team. The team consists of four professionals and we are looking forward to shaping the future with you. This position is available full-time, on site in Royston Hertfordshire. The site is 10 minutes walk from the train station and just off of the A505 so is easily accessible.

Your Responsibilities

  • On a daily basis you will be working hands on testing, documenting and commissioning products using defined processes.
  • Working closely with build, commissioning and manufacturing engineers, the purchasing team and other internal functions as required, to maintain and improve the output of the manufacturing cell.
  • You will record and communicate progress based on the agreed production schedule for your specific work area.
  • You will be instrumental in the team hitting production and quality targets to achieve the required schedules.
  • In addition, you will contribute to discussions focused on the continuous improvement in both production and site wide initiatives.

Required profile

  • You will hold an ONC, HND, BTEC, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or be technician | apprentice trained with substantial relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate substantial experience working in a technical environment within a high-tech engineering or manufacturing organisation, understanding mechanical | electrical | electronic build and assembly.
  • Familiar with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement and the full range of mechanical engineering materials, finishes and tolerances.
  • Ability to read mechanical, electrical and pneumatic drawings.
  • Practical electrical experience in wiring, fault finding and electrical testing practices.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office packages and relevant hardware configure and test programs.
  • Proven mechanical and electrical assembly skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads effectively to meet tight deadlines, while demonstrating a proactive approach, strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, a collaborative team oriented approach and a willingness to develop new knowledge and skills.
