We are looking for an Electronics System Engineer to join our Product Development team at Sartorius. In this role, you will develop electronic and firmware solutions, applying them in innovative ways to enable new products and deliver continuous improvements to existing products. The team currently consists of 5 professionals and we are looking forward to shaping the future with you. This position is available full-time on a 12 month fixed term contract. You will be based at our Royston site with the option to work from home one day per week, subject to workload.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, commission and test embedded software/firmware to provide machine control solutions.
  • Develop electronics solutions to provide machine control and signal conditioning functionality for new and existing products.
  • Develop technologies to interface hardware and software elements of our products.
  • Collaborate with project team members to develop interface protocols.
  • Provide support and training for machine control sub-systems across all of our products.
  • Contribute to and organise design reviews with peers and other groups from across the business.

What will convince us

  • BSc or MSc in Electronics with Embedded Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of digital and analogue electronics design including small signal handling and processing for MCUs.
  • Experience of Electrical | Electronic communication protocols and hardware such as RS232, RS422, RS485, USB and Ethernet.
  • Experience of scripting and integrating robotic machinery using Python.
  • Confident developing firmware and using microcontrollers.
  • Familiar with electrical motor control including steppers, DC and brushless DC Servos.
  • Demonstrable experience of PCBA design for ease of manufacturing and testing and familiar with PCB layout, preferably familiar with Altium Designer.
  • Embedded software design for machine control and automation purposes.
  • C / C++ and embedded software using both RTOS or Super Loop architectures.
  • Strong planning skills.
  • Natural ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated and proactive team player with good problem-solving skills.
