We are working with a well established and growing transport planning consultancy to recruit an Assistant / Graduate Transport Planner to join their London team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to gain hands on experience across a wide range of development projects while being supported by experienced transport planners in a collaborative and commercially aware environment.

The role is based in Central London with flexibility for hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting project teams with day to day technical input across a variety of transport planning projects
  • Assisting in the preparation of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and supporting planning submission documents
  • Preparing Travel Plans and Travel Packs and contributing ideas around sustainable travel initiatives
  • Collecting, processing and analysing project data including traffic counts and public transport usage
  • Providing assistance with technical and design work where required including CAD and swept path analysis
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across different disciplines to support project delivery and broaden planning knowledge
  • Liaising with wider project teams and engaging with planning and highway officers including attending meetings and workshops
  • Delivering work to a high professional standard accurately and within agreed timescales
About You
  • Around one year of experience in a transport planning or closely related role although graduates with strong placement or internship experience will also be considered
  • A genuine interest in transport planning topics such as active travel, placemaking, healthy streets, spatial planning, transport policy and junction mitigation
  • An understanding of the UK planning system and how transport planning supports it including NPPF and the London Plan
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to engage with both internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to technical tools such as AutoCAD, TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions 9, GIS and Census data although not all are essential
  • A flexible and proactive approach with a willingness to support colleagues during busier periods
