SARS is seeking energetic, results-oriented, and self-motivated individuals to enhance its operations by applying a systematic and disciplined approach within the Compliance Audit division. Successful candidates will be responsible for planning and managing their workload, executing tasks within the Compliance Audit space, and achieving set targets and objectives across various tax types.
Job Purpose
To conduct verifications with the aim of influencing compliance through raising accurate assessments in line with relevant legislation.
Education and Experience Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
- National Diploma / Advanced Certificate (NQF 6) in Accounting/Auditing/Taxation and 2-3 years’ experience in an Auditing/Tax/Accounting environment.
- Senior Certificate (NQF 4) and 6 years’ experience in an Auditing/Tax/Accounting environment, of which 1-2 years at knowledge worker level.
Job Outputs
- Be informed on related acts, legislation and regulations that might impact on own work.
- Be observant and engage on possible violations of regulation, policies, SOPs and standards of conduct and escalate where necessary.
- Conduct standard (limited scope) audits to ensure compliance with the relevant acts.
- Plan and organise own work tasks within area of work.
- Prepare and present submissions to interest and penalty committee.
- Take accountability for delivery of contracted work outputs within agreed parameters, quality standards, and client service targets.
- Accumulate information and provide reports with recommendations applicable to area of specialisation.
- Apply practical and applied knowledge and act authoritatively on methods, systems, and procedures to identify trends and potential risks.
- Communicate situational interpretation and judgement of work outputs and queries in area of specialisation.
- Correctly apply applicable legislation, including amongst other policies, procedures, and SOPs in the delivery of work outputs.
- Effectively plan and schedule own activities to continuously improve quality and service delivery in area of specialisation.
- Execute process and procedural change, implement the change, and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as a result of the change.
- Use practical and applied knowledge and situational judgement to consider policy implications and to arrive at decisions/conclusions.
