The Bull Hotel, a four‑star hotel in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, offers 147 bedrooms, a restaurant, a bar and flexible event suites. We are looking for a Chef de Partie to join a small brigade producing quality fresh food for the Restaurant, Lounge Bar, Room Service and Meetings & Events departments.
Responsibilities
- Work in a professional kitchen, preparing and presenting high‑quality dishes made with fresh foods.
- Work across all sections as required, maintaining product and service standards and ensuring maximum guest satisfaction.
- Control departmental expenses, including food costs and wages, in line with business levels.
- Implement and monitor all Health & Safety and hygiene practices and procedures.
- Motivate, coach and train junior members of the team.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure a smooth service and high team morale.
- Operate on a rota basis across seven days, mornings and evenings as required.
Contract: 40‑hour contract over 4 or 5 days as per business needs. Live‑in accommodation is available for this position (chargeable).
Qualifications
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 in food preparation or equivalent, with prior professional kitchen experience using fresh ingredients.
- Imagination, an eye for detail and the ability to deliver quality a‑la‑carte and buffet food for large‑volume functions and weddings.
- A passion for cooking, genuine love of food and a desire to learn and develop skills.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and experience working within strict hygiene regimes.
- Understanding of food cost controls.
- Punctuality, reliability and a can‑do attitude.
- Ability to work in a busy environment, sometimes under pressure, with self‑motivation and the ability to motivate others.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK, in line with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 (documented evidence required).
