The Position: Applications are invited for an Apprentice Engineer Gas Plant based at our SARIA, Widnes site. This is a full time, permanent position working 40 hours per week.

As an Apprentice Engineer Gas Plant, your duties and responsibilities will be varied in support of the existing team and will include developing skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Assist with planned and reactive maintenance of gas upgrading plants, Grid Entry Units and associated equipment under supervision.
  • Support routine operational checks and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities.
  • Develop practical mechanical engineering skills through hands-on tasks carried out under supervision.
  • Support condition monitoring activities by recording operational data and assisting with inspections.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate engineering records, logs, and maintenance documentation.
  • Support process operations to help maintain efficient and reliable plant performance.
  • Assist with environmental and operational compliance activities in line with site procedures and regulations.
  • Support monitoring of plant performance data and assist in identifying potential improvements.
  • Assist with engineering projects and site improvement activities as part of training and development.
  • Work with internal teams and external service providers under supervision to support maintenance activities.
  • Complete all required training and apprenticeship development activities to build technical knowledge, skills, and behaviours.

The Person: Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths (or equivalent). Interest in biogas, natural gas systems, or industrial process operations. Positive attitude and willingness to embrace new challenges. Collaborative and able to build strong working relationships. Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.

You will be required to undertake additional company training in other disciplines to further develop and complement a full skill set needed for the role. We will support you as part of a structured Apprenticeship programme where you will attain a Level 3 qualification in Engineering on a day release basis.

Salary: Apprentice rates depending on age.
