Apprentice Field Technician
Applications are invited for an Apprentice Field Technician based at our APC, Doncaster site. This is a full‑time, permanent position working 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced Field Technicians with the safe collection of porcine and bovine blood at customer sites.
- Learn and follow standard operating procedures to ensure consistent product quality and minimize rejections.
- Support the set‑up, operation, cleaning, and basic maintenance of blood collection equipment.
- Carry out tasks in line with health and safety, hygiene, and biosecurity procedures at all times.
- Complete accurate records and documentation in line with company and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in identifying and reporting product quality issues or equipment faults to senior colleagues.
- Support basic investigations into operational or quality issues by gathering information and escalating appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with abattoir staff, transport teams, and internal colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
- Travel to various sites across the UK and Scotland, including early starts and occasional overnight stays.
- Participate fully in apprenticeship training, including coursework, assessments, and development activities.
- Build technical knowledge and practical skills under the guidance of experienced technicians and trainers.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the level of the apprenticeship.
- Will be required to undertake additional company training in other disciplines to further develop and complement a full skill set needed for the role.
- Support the structured Apprenticeship programme where you will attain a Level2 Welder Standard qualification on a day release basis.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Interest in engineering, technical operations, or industrial field work.
- Full clean UK Driving Licence.
- Willing and able to travel extensively across the UK and Scotland, including overnight stays.
- Able to work in industrial environments including abattoirs.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a mobile field team.
