We are looking for an experienced and proactive Engineering Supervisor to join our team at ReFood UK in Widnes.
This is a key role within our engineering function, supporting the Engineering Manager and taking an active lead in the day-to-day maintenance, reliability, and safe operation of our site.

The Role
As Engineering Supervisor, you will help coordinate and supervise the engineering team, ensuring maintenance activities are planned, controlled, and completed safely and effectively.
You will work closely with the Engineering Manager, Operations and other key teams to keep equipment operating reliably, minimise downtime and ensure the site remains compliant with all relevant safety, environmental and legislative requirements.
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Engineering Manager with the day-to-day management of site maintenance
- Supervising and supporting the engineering team at ReFood Widnes
- Coordinating maintenance activities, planned shutdowns and remedial works
- Helping to ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Managing the Permit to Work process, including plant isolations, hot works, and confined-space controls
- Ensuring appropriate safety checks and authorisations are completed before work begins
- Supporting compliance with PAS 110, ISO 9001, ADQP and relevant legislation
- Coordinating daily CMMS / PPM activities and ensuring maintenance records are accurately completed
- Ensuring effective shift handovers and communicating outstanding or remedial works
- Monitoring repair work and providing clear progress updates to the Engineering Manager
- Ensuring engineering tools, equipment and the working environment are properly maintained and controlled
- Identifying spare-parts requirements and working with stores to ensure availability
- Supporting continuous improvement across engineering and site maintenance activities
- Promoting a strong culture of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with the confidence to supervise and coordinate an engineering team.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in an engineering, maintenance, or manufacturing environment
- Experience supervising, leading, or coordinating engineering/maintenance teams
- A strong understanding of planned and preventative maintenance
- Experience working with CMMS / PPM systems
- Knowledge of Permit to Work, isolation and safe systems of work
- A good understanding of health & safety and engineering compliance
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to prioritise work effectively in a busy operational environment
- A proactive approach with the confidence to take ownership and make decisions
Experience within anaerobic digestion, renewable energy, waste management, food manufacturing, process engineering, or a similar industrial environment would be advantageous.
