APC (GB) Ltd is a manufacturer of pet food ingredients and is a joint venture between the SARIA and LGI Group, America.

This is a small but highly motivated operation based in Doncaster and is supplying ingredients to the main pet food Companies in the UK and distribute all over the world.

The Position

Applications are invited for an Apprentice Field Technician based at our APC, Doncaster site. This is a full time, permanent, position working 40 hours per week.

As an Apprentice Field Technician, your duties and responsibilities will be varied in support of the existing team and will include developing skills and knowledge in the following areas-

  • Assist experienced Field Technicians with the safe collection of porcine and bovine blood at customer sites.
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures to ensure consistent product quality and minimise rejections.
  • Support the set‑up, operation, cleaning, and basic maintenance of blood collection equipment.
  • Carry out tasks in line with health and safety, hygiene, and biosecurity procedures at all times.
  • Complete accurate records and documentation in line with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in identifying and reporting product quality issues or equipment faults to senior colleagues.
  • Support basic investigations into operational or quality issues by gathering information and escalating appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with abattoir staff, transport teams, and internal colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
  • Travel to various sites across the UK and Scotland, including early starts and occasional overnight stays.
  • Participate fully in apprenticeship training, including coursework, assessments, and development activities.
  • Build technical knowledge and practical skills under the guidance of experienced technicians and trainers.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the level of the apprenticeship.

You will be required to undertake additional company training in other disciplines to further develop and complement a full skill set needed for the role.

We will support you as part of a structured Apprenticeship programme where you will attain a Leve; 2 Welder Standard qualification on a day release basis.

  • The Person
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Interest in engineering, technical operations, or industrial field work.
  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence
  • Willing and able to travel extensively across the UK and Scotland, including overnight stays.
  • Able to work in industrial environments including abattoirs.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a mobile field team.
