We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic person to join our software design team. This is a full time, office-based role located at our factory at Tokenspire Business Park in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

Working within an established team of designers, you will primarily be responsible for embedded software design, from initial ideas and specification, to prototype / proof of concept through to final coding and system testing and performance evaluation. You will work closely with the hardware designers, helping with initial concepts, refinements and circuit improvements. You will provide inputs to the microcontroller selection and specification, and where required will offer recommendations.

Educated to degree level, in software or electronic engineering or with similar qualifications and relevant experience, you will have been working in similar industries and be able to show a proven track record of successful product design. Experience in embedded software design, using Atmel Studio, Visual Studio Code, ESP-IDF, Eclipse IDE or similar platforms is required. A flare for visual interface design will be a benefit, along with the drive to create efficient code and a polished final solution.

To support your work, you will establish and refine procedures and processes to continually improve the work flow and output quality. When required, you will train existing staff and future junior members in any new or existing processes.

The role provides the opportunity to work on many new and exciting projects for the leisure, building and agricultural industries, including IoT connected devices, control panels and user interfaces, power control and distribution units, Bluetooth, LoRa and other remote wireless devices.

Sargent Electrical Services Ltd. are a family run company based in Beverley East Yorkshire, and currently have around 140 employees, 8 of which are within the technical design team. Due to the very nature of the job requirements this is an onsite/office based role with direct access to production and lab facilities on the same site.

The hours of work are 7.45am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, and 7.45am to 12.45pm Friday, totalling 39 hours. Annual holidays are 28, and other benefits include a healthcare cash plan and gym discounts.
