Join our team as a Pipeline Maintenance & Construction- Skilled Trades Worker II (Stormwater) and play a vital role in keeping our community's infrastructure running smoothly. In this role, you'll maintain, construct, and repair stormwater conveyance and road right-of-way systems while tackling meaningful, challenging work every day.
- Perform stormwater conveyance system maintenance on all county canals, lakes, ponds, and ditches.
- Restore road right-of-ways and properties relating to stormwater maintenance and repairs.
- Install and repair pipeline infrastructure and plumbing to ensure proper grade of the conveyance system.
- Respond to emergency situations as required.
- Lead staff in operations to ensure safety.
- Carpenter work to include design, frame or form needed to install and build new infrastructure.
- Design, form, and pour concrete for structures, high back curb, Miami curb, etc.
- Understanding and experience practicing standard FDOT stormwater installation specifications.
- Operate specialized equipment, such as backhoes, excavators, arm mowers, vacuum trucks and other related equipment.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 40-hour work week, rotating schedule. On-call required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- Three (3) years of experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of stormwater conveyance systems.
- A valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement required within six (6) months from the time of hire (Paid by the County).
- A valid Florida Driver License at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of current technology in storm water distribution systems and road right of way maintenance practices.
- Knowledge of safe operation of specialized tools and equipment used in the maintenance storm water conveyance system and road right of way maintenance and repair.
- Operation of harvesters, airboats, motorboats, excavators, arm mowers, personal computers and mechanical tools used in the utility maintenance industry.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
Starting Pay: $22.14 (Step 1). Potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience.
