This role is working 36 hours a week 9-5 Thursday-Monday. Working within a Research & Development which is science led and results driven, the Microbiology Speciality Biopharma lab performs a wide range of analytical analysis for a variety of food, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies to support research and innovation.

Duties include:

  • Undertaking a practical role with supervisory responsibilities for a team of five within the Microbiology lab to ensure the projects performed are supervised effectively and accurately.
  • Focusing on routine and investigative analysis of products using techniques such as Bioburdens, total viable aerobic count, endotoxins, and environmental monitoring.
  • Training junior members of the team.
  • Client contact and administrative support for the lab management.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the instrument and lab systems including checking and approving supplier’s reports (qualifications, repairs and preventative reports).

Candidates will have a PhD or Degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience in a lab, good understanding of lab equipment, scientific understanding and ability to independently conduct chemical analysis in the relevant area, adaptable to meet customer/business requirements, work on multiple activities, attention to detail, good verbal and written communication skills, and be self-motivated.
