Linux Engineer – build/tune some of the world\’s fastest trading systems

Overview

This is not a Sys Admin role. This role is for elite engineers with strong coding ability, that are embedded within the Linux ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Build and fine-tune the Linux OS that underpins some of the world’s fastest trading systems.
  • Focus on ultra-low latency, bare metal performance, and kernel-level problem solving, alongside writing and debugging C++, Python, or Golang code.
  • Your work will span memory management, CPU scheduling, kernel tuning, and virtualization using KVM.
  • Help manage and optimise on‑prem Kubernetes environments supporting critical trading infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with quants and custom hardware teams (including GPUs and a proprietary network stack) to extract every microsecond of performance.
  • Work on complex, open-ended problems that may take weeks or months to resolve.

  • Location: London – fully onsite
  • Base pay range: up to £250k base + bonuses. The budget is open to attract the best engineers, and compensation includes a generous base salary + guaranteed bonus (roughly a 60/40 split).
  • Salary is based on skills and experience.
