A dynamic and prestigious accountancy practice is looking for a talented Senior Accountant to join their collaborative and forward-thinking team. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced professional to step into a role with clear progression towards Practice Manager or Director level, as the firm continues to grow in response to rising demand.
In addition to leading client work, you’ll play a key role in mentoring and developing junior team members, making this an ideal position for someone who enjoys both technical excellence and team leadership. The main focus of the role will include:
- Reviewing year-end statutory accounts as well as self-assessment tax returns prepared by junior staff, making necessary changes & passing on the final accounts to the Practice Director for approval prior to sharing with the client.
- Preparing year-end statutory accounts for a portfolio of clients with advisory notes.
- Calculating year-end corporate and personal tax liabilities and submitting tax returns.
- Preparing management accounts for clients as required.
- Communicating with HMRC where appropriate.
- Keeping the Director informed of engagement progress.
- Supervising junior staff & providing feedback upon review of their work for company accounts & self-assessment tax returns.
- Assisting in the training of junior staff.
To succeed in this role, the individual will need:
- A solid understanding of statutory accounts preparation & corporate/personal taxation.
- Competency in providing business advice and management accounts.
- Experience managing a client portfolio.
- Experience using Sage 50, Xero, Sage Accounts Production, Corp tax, and MS Excel.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
