We are looking for a Grants Executive to join the Saracens Foundation team. Since its inception in 2000, the Saracens Foundation has delivered innovative and industry leading projects across North London & Hertfordshire, developing sustainable partnerships and providing vital support that helps build stronger, healthier and more connected communities.

The Grants Executive is a key member of the Saracens Foundation fundraising team, securing funds through funding applications to enable the delivery of our projects. The Grants Executive is responsible for the management of the grant process in its entirety, from the application, management and reporting. Grants and Trusts are an essential income stream for the Saracens Foundation, ensuring we can deliver our important work in the community. The Grants Executive will be the go-to person in the Foundation for all things funding, working alongside the project teams, wider fundraising team, and finance department to write compelling applications to relevant grants and trusts. Understanding the funding landscape and researching applications the Foundation can apply for will be a key element of this role and allow the charity to be financially stable, with a view to growing and developing new projects as funding becomes available.

This role will report directly to the Fundraising Manager within the team. Saracens is an inclusive, people first organisation. Purpose of the job:

  • Manage the full grant lifecycle: from research, to application, to reporting.
  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities from various funding bodies.
  • Craft compelling and persuasive grant applications, expression of interests and reporting documents.
  • Collaborate with programme staff, finance team, and leadership to gather necessary information.
  • Stay informed about the UK Charity sector, funding trends, and relevant policy changes.
  • Build and nurture key relationships with current and potential funders.
  • Support the wider fundraising team.

Person specification:

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders – both internal and external.
  • A team player with a good sense of humour.
  • Knowledge of the UK charity sector and funding landscape.

Experience:

  • Demonstrable writing and editing experience.
  • Degree Qualification or equivalent.
  • Some experience writing funding bids and working within the charity sector (preferable but not essential).

  • Compensation: Dependent on the charity’s financial performance, the Saracens Foundation may conduct an annual pay review. However, proactive pay increases may be implemented to reflect growing responsibilities.
  • Working from home: Our office anchor days are on Mondays and Thursdays. This keeps team collaboration and engagement high. If you are normally office-based, you can still work from home occasionally - as long as you have a good internet connection and a private, quiet space which allows you to do your best work.
