A well-regarded strategic communications and policy advisory firm with an international footprint is seeking its first dedicated marketing hire to build and lead a structured community and events programme. The firm has developed a category leading reputation for the quality of its thinking, execution and network across technology, investment, sport and media, and convening that community has long been central to how it does business. Until now, that activity has been driven largely by senior leadership on an ad hoc basis. This role exists to bring it together into a coherent, strategically led programme, with events at the centre and content, brand and CRM woven around them. It is a genuine build opportunity, with real scope and senior support behind it.
Responsibilities:
- Design and curate a structured annual programme of external events, including thematic breakfasts, sector roundtables, VIP dinners, book launches and larger set-piece gatherings.
- Develop the overall concept and format for each event, with a strong editorial instinct for speaker selection, guest mix and pacing.
- Segment the firm's contact base and build invite strategies that place the right people together across multiple touchpoints over time.
- Integrate events with content and brand activation into a single coherent framework, designed to deepen priority relationships and support commercial development.
- Set standards for the firm's owned channels, primarily LinkedIn and its website, and shape how it participates at major external conferences.
- Manage end-to-end event delivery, working with Operations, the consulting team and external suppliers to ensure every touchpoint is consistently high quality.
- Own the firm's marketing CRM (HubSpot), ensuring contacts, invitations, conversations and follow-ups are tracked across the business and that ROI on marketing activity is measured and reported.
- Work in close partnership with Directors and Partners, supporting them to develop sector-focused activity and build their own networks within the broader programme.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in marketing, community building, events production, or media programming, ideally with experience building a function rather than inheriting an established one.
- A track record of operating with significant autonomy, either as a function of one or two or in a strong number two role within a high-curation organisation.
- A credible and confident presence around senior executives, investors and high-profile individuals, with the interpersonal discipline to follow up effectively and the authority to mobilise colleagues at all levels.
- Strong curatorial instincts: a creative eye for format, speaker pairings and event design, combined with genuine attention to detail in execution.
- Hands-on experience with HubSpot or comparable marketing CRM platforms, with a belief in data discipline as a driver of commercial value.
- Intellectual curiosity across technology, AI, investment, sport and culture, and the confidence to hold substantive conversations in those worlds.
- An existing network of senior contacts across the London technology, investment, sport or media ecosystems would be an advantage, as would experience inside a VC platform team, accelerator, members club or comparable convening organisation.
- Familiarity with AI tools used critically and practically in a professional context.
