Salary: SCP7 £26,403 – SCP11 £28,142 FTE per annum. Salary Pro Rata; £9,203 - £9,983

The Role: Responsible to the Director of Subject for ensuring that a safe, effective and efficient service is provided, giving technical advice and assistance in the classroom and assisting teaching staff with learning activities. This is a rare opportunity for somebody who is pro-active, flexible and multi-skilled to contribute to the success of student learning. Previous experience of working with young people, or in an educational environment, would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS disclosure.

The professional competencies expected of an Art Technician are:

• Have a genuine and keen interest in art and design;
• Possess a high degree of organisational ability;
• Resourcefulness and the ability to act on initiative;
• Have access to a car and have a full driving license.

The qualifications and previous experience required for an Art Technician are:

• A good level of literacy and numeracy;
• Experience of working either in an art studio environment or in a successful art department;
• Good knowledge of ceramics studio processes (including, but not limited to, clay reclaim processes, kiln firing, glazing);
• Computer literate – able to use Microsoft and online platforms for design and administrative purposes.
