Pastoral Support Assistant Location: Beccles High School, Beccles Salary: Grade 5–6 Support Staff Scale | FTE £26,427–£26,847 | Pro rata £23,038–£23,821 Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hours per week) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and caring Pastoral Assistant to join our school. The Pastoral Assistant will play a vital role in supporting our inclusion provision, helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve success both academically and personally. Working closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff, families and external agencies, you will supervise students referred to our Internal Exclusion Room, provide pastoral support, promote positive behaviour and help maintain a calm and purposeful learning environment. We are looking for a hard-working and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and organisational skills. The successful candidate will be able to build positive relationships with young people, remain calm under pressure and demonstrate resilience, flexibility and a genuine commitment to supporting students. Part of our ethos is the amazing array of opportunities we offer students, including enhancement activities, clubs, societies and specialist academies that help foster exceptionally strong relationships between staff and students. The school and Trust provide a comprehensive induction programme, extensive professional development opportunities and a strong focus on staff wellbeing. The position is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time plus one week (39 weeks per year). The school is located in an attractive market town on the Norfolk Broads, surrounded by countryside and close to Norfolk and Suffolk’s beaches, with Norwich approximately 25 minutes away. PERSON SPECIFICATION The professional competencies expected of a Pastoral Assistant are: * The ability to communicate clearly and tactfully using appropriate methods and an awareness of the impact of your own communication on others; * Able to maintain positive relationships with all and able to work as an effective and flexible part of a team; willing to change methods of work and routines to benefit the team; * Willingness to accept responsibility for your own actions; the ability to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines and accept challenges. * Be able to multi-task and work under pressure; * Be flexible and resilient in managing and executing daily responsibilities; * Able to demonstrate strong planning and organisational skills; * To attend training and meetings as necessary and cascade any relevant information to relevant staff and stakeholders as appropriate. * Be an excellent role model for all members of staff and for students in all aspects of school life.
