Sapien are looking for a Composite Engineer for an engineering consultancy working across a range of high-performance industries. This role is to support the design, analysis and delivery of advanced composite structures. This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit engineering team working on technically challenging projects across multiple sectors.
Responsibilities will include:
- Composite component and assembly design using CAD software
- Laminate definition, ply orientation and material selection
- Structural analysis of composite structures using FEA tools such as Abaqus, Ansys or Nastran
- Hand calculations and validation activities
- Supporting manufacturing and design-for-manufacture activities
- Producing technical reports, drawings and engineering documentation
- Supporting project delivery to time, cost and quality targets
- Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and clients
- Supporting bids, proposals and technical discussions where required
Experience Required:
- Experience within composite design and composite structural analysis
- Background within high-performance engineering sectors
- Experience with CAD and FEA tools
- Understanding of composite materials, manufacturing methods and structural behaviour
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Experience with prepreg, infusion or RTM manufacturing
