An engineering company in Derby is looking for a Senior Stress Engineer to support structural and lifting analysis on turbomachinery hardware. The role covers analysis work from concept through to production, across both new and existing designs. You’ll work closely with programme and design teams, contribute to internal analysis methods, and provide guidance to junior engineers.
Job Responsibilities
- Carry out structural analysis on turbomachinery
- Prepare and support analysis plans and project schedules
- Work with programme and engineering leads to meet project requirements
- Deliver analysis work in line with customer and programme deadlines
- Produce structural summaries and analysis reports
- Present work at internal technical reviews
- Support and mentor junior stress engineers
- Contribute to analysis methods and internal tools
- Provide analytical support to design teams
- Complete and check technical documentation
Skills Required
- Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or similar discipline)
- Around 10+ years’ experience in stress/structural analysis in turbomachinery
- Strong understanding of structural analysis and strength of materials
- Experience with FEA tools such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, or NASTRAN
- Able to troubleshoot FEA models and interpret results
- Knowledge of gas turbine component behaviour and failure modes
- Good communication skills with internal teams and customers
