Sapien are looking for an PCB Designer to join a specialist engineering and manufacturing environment, supporting the build and development of advanced electronic systems. This role would suit someone with around 3–5 years’ experience in electronics manufacturing, production engineering, or electronic product development who’s ready to take ownership and get involved across both new product introduction and ongoing production support.

You’ll be working closely with design and production teams to improve manufacturing processes, support NPI, troubleshoot issues on the shop floor, and help develop test setups, jigs, and fixtures that keep production running smoothly. A strong background in PCB design is essential, along with solid experience using MATLAB and Simulink.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the introduction of new electronic products into production
  • Improve and refine manufacturing processes for electronic systems
  • Work closely with design teams to ensure products are manufacturable
  • Create build packs, work instructions, and production documentation
  • Fault find and carry out root cause analysis on failed units and returns
  • Support NPI, DFM, and continuous improvement activities
  • Help develop test equipment, jigs, fixtures, and production tools
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to production teams
  • Produce technical documentation, reports, and test procedures
  • Support automation and efficiency improvements across production
Essential Experience
  • 3–5 years’ experience in Electronics Production Engineering, Electronics Manufacturing, or similar
  • Strong PCB design experience
  • Strong MATLAB and Simulink skills
  • Experience with electromechanical or control systems
  • Hands-on fault finding and electronics diagnostics
  • Experience supporting NPI or production environments
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
  • Confident soldering and prototype build skills
Desirable Experience
  • Altium (or similar PCB design tools)
  • SPICE simulation
  • Python for scripting or automation
  • Embedded C / C++
  • Test development or automated test systems
  • Experience with standard lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, PSUs, etc.)
