Purpose and Objectives

To strengthen SAP’s EMEA Service Industries Unit, we have an open position for a Principal Consultant in EAM Railways / MRO Airlines. The key purpose of the unit is to drive innovative service portfolio management and package what SAP is best at in the Service Industries to deliver reduced T2V and TCO to our customers. We also lead thought leadership initiatives to drive our customers’ agendas and help them get optimal value from SAP throughout the entire engagement life cycle (primarily for large customers).

  • Application specific solution consulting (for a specific application: creation of business blueprint documents, implementation based on a blueprint, creation of test cases, test scheduling and execution, key user training, go‑live support, and post go‑live support)
  • Support in escalated projects
  • Performance of feasibility studies / solution reviews
  • Drive development of AI use cases and enable customer adoption
  • Support of pre‑sales activities
  • Take over responsibility from time to time as a sub‑project team leader
  • Take over responsibility from time to time as team lead and support respective line manager(s) in people development tasks
  • Enable customer program leads in short and medium‑term planning of their transformation roadmap
  • Detailed planning of process implementation
  • Define detailed specifications for development requirements
  • Drive innovation by supporting SAP’s product management in requirements collection and evaluation and by fostering the adaption of SAP’s innovative solution at customers
  • Industry / corporate process implementation across all related applications (SAP/non‑SAP)
  • Develop and ensure quality of process models
  • Demonstrate profound knowledge of modeling standards and tools

Education and Qualifications

  • A proven 15+ year SAP experience in Railways EAM / Airlines MRO transformation projects
  • Proven track record of having led the implementation of a perfect EAM / MRO system for a Railway or an airline business / service provider customer
  • Practical SAP solution skills (SAP S/4 HANA, ECC, including EAM, PM/CS, A&D, PS, MM, APM, SSAM, BNAC, RSH/MSO, IBP for MRO, FSM)
  • Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul processes in Aviation, Aerospace & Defense know‑how
  • Experience with ML, IoT, SAP Joule and other AI tools, HCL’s iMRO and SAP Fieldglass is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of programming is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of BI, SAC, Datasphere is a plus
  • Practical experience with process modelling tools Signavio, LeanIX, WalkMe is a plus
  • SD, CX, S/4HANA Service Management, QM, FICO and EWM integration is a plus
  • Experience with competitors and Best‑of‑Breed solutions in airline MRO is beneficial
  • Good experience in the Customer Engagement Life cycle from requirement identification, consulting and pre‑sales through to design, build and implementation
  • Fundamental know‑how in the area of business process framework architecture, legacy system migration and application integration
  • Project Management and consulting methodology skills SAP Activate and Solution Manager, CALM is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, result‑oriented and effective in problem solving
  • Excel in conflict management and de‑escalation
  • Ease in presenting complex information to customers in a clear, well documented and trustworthy manner
  • Considered an advantage to have an established airlines industry network: internal (SAP Development) and external (customers, influencers, and partners), SUGRAIL, SUGAIR is a plus
  • Team player and ability to work successfully in culturally diverse environments
  • Strong networking and customer relationship management capabilities
  • Natural ability to coach, share, document and transfer knowledge to colleagues to rapidly increase SAP’s capacity to deliver and grow the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Japanese required

  • Creative individual who can provide expert services, best industry practices and advice to strategic customers and outline to‑be strategy and system architecture to successfully implement a Railways EAM or an Airline MRO system, and in a S/4HANA perspective
  • Pro‑actively support sales and consulting colleagues with opportunity qualifications and executions
  • Support responses to RFX and assess project risks and costs based on deep solution and industry know‑how
  • Propose innovative delivery models (e.g. Integrated Service Delivery) to make an SAP difference to our customers by reducing project risks and costs
  • At any time in a project phase, capable to take over responsibility as the project and program leader for specific work packages or the entire project
  • Support escalations to resolution working with local teams
  • Be exemplar in teamwork. Support a strong growth in AI adoption
  • Collaborate closely with relevant internal SAP Practice Groups and Task Forces for optimal leverage both ways
  • Close collaboration with SAP Development, SAP CSD and SAP S/4 EAM product management
  • Lead the definition and delivery of an SAP predefined service, SAP Standard Content, for Railways EAM LAM and Airline MRO involving all stakeholders to deliver a true example of “best practice” as in the former Model Company
  • Run customer workshops and deliver education sessions
  • Work pro‑actively with partners and the SAP Services eco‑system to deliver the correct SAP Services and Support offer to ensure successful SAP projects
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and keep up to date with all industry and solution related development and ensure that such knowledge is disseminated appropriately according to the Knowledge Management framework in SAP Services
  • Directly report to the Head of the EMEA Service Industries Practice
