SANZA Teaching Agency is currently recruiting an experienced and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant for a highly regarded secondary SEND school in Harrow, North West London. This full-time role is available immediately and involves supporting a student with complex special educational needs within a specialist secondary setting.

The Role - SEND Teaching Assistant (Secondary)

The successful Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant will provide 1:1 support to a Year 11 female student with a combination of learning needs, behavioural needs, and epilepsy, including the management of frequent seizures. This position requires a calm, confident, and experienced practitioner who can offer consistent, reassuring support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group SEND support within the classroom
  • Support emotional regulation and implement positive behaviour strategies
  • Respond appropriately to medical needs, including seizure management
  • Remain calm and reassuring during challenging or high-pressure situations
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff
  • Promote independence, safety, and inclusion within a secondary SEND environment

The Ideal Candidate

This role would suit a SEND Teaching Assistant who:

  • Has proven experience supporting students with complex needs, ideally in a secondary SEND school or specialist provision
  • Is confident managing behaviour using positive, trauma-informed approaches
  • Holds a current First Aid qualification (essential due to epilepsy support)
  • Is calm, patient, resilient, and emotionally intelligent
  • Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and high-quality SEND practice
  • Is available to start immediately
