A nurturing and inclusive primary school in Camden are seeking an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team on a full-time basis. This role will involve working as one of two adults supporting a non-verbal child with ASD in Reception. The child is currently on a part-time timetable (approximately 90 minutes per day). For the remainder of the day, you will support targeted interventions across EYFS and Year 1.

The Role:

  • Work collaboratively with another adult to support a non-verbal pupil with ASD
  • Provide structured, nurturing and consistent 1:1 support during the child's timetable
  • Use appropriate communication strategies (e.g. visual supports, PECS, Makaton where appropriate)
  • Support targeted interventions across EYFS and Year 1
  • Assist with learning through play and structured activities
  • Promote social interaction, engagement and emotional development

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A strong background supporting non-verbal children with ASD
  • Extensive experience working within SEND settings
  • Experience within EYFS, with a good understanding of early development and play-based learning
  • Patience, empathy and a calm, proactive approach
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
