The Procurement Manager will lead all plant-related purchasing activities across SANY UK & Ireland, managing the procurement of heavy equipment, fleet assets, spare parts, and maintenance services. This role is critical in ensuring cost control and supplier performance across multiple depots and workshops.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for plant machinery, fleet expansion, and asset replacement.
- Lead sourcing and negotiation of major plant purchases (e.g. excavators, telehandlers, mobile cranes).
- Manage relationships with key account and dealers.
- Oversee procurement of maintenance contracts, servicing agreements, and repair solutions.
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts to minimise fleet downtime.
- Drive cost efficiencies across plant purchasing, servicing, and lifecycle management.
- Monitor market trends in plant equipment, including pricing, availability, and innovation.
- Manage procurement budgets and deliver measurable cost savings.
- Work closely with fleet, operations, and engineering teams to align procurement with site demands.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Essential business trips to Glasgow, Scotland and Kent, England depot quarterly and international business trip to EU and China.
Skills & Requirements
- Strong experience in plant hire, construction, or heavy equipment procurement.
- In-depth knowledge of plant machinery and fleet lifecycle management.
- Proven negotiation experience with high-value equipment and suppliers.
- Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills.
- Leadership experience managing procurement teams.
- Advanced Excel and procurement system knowledge.
- Ability to manage multiple depots, suppliers, and operational demands.
- CIPS qualification or relevant degree (desirable).
