Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is Santander's global division that supports some of the world's most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering customised services and value-added wholesale products to best meet their needs. This role sits within our Regulatory Compliance team, part of a global function that delivers Compliance Monitoring, Controls Testing, and Assurance (MT&A). Global MT&A conducts independent, risk-based reviews to assess the design and effectiveness of the controls.
You’ll help protect the firm by assessing the regulatory and financial crime risks through structured reviews, thematic testing, and deep dives across key business processes and controls. You’ll be leading and delivering risk-based reviews. We operate globally, covering Europe, APAC, the US, and Latin America. You’ll collaborate with colleagues in other jurisdictions, with influence and impact across SCIB. This is a hands-on role, suited for someone who can plan and execute reviews, build and foster relationships with stakeholders, and contribute to improving the control environment across various business lines.
The difference you’ll make:
- Planning and delivering complex reviews end-to-end, covering conduct, market abuse, conflicts, and regulatory compliance themes.
- Designing effective testing strategies based on risk assessments and regulatory expectations.
- Leading scoping, fieldwork, stakeholder interviews, and reporting.
- Assessing the design adequacy and operating effectiveness of controls.
- Identifying and documenting issues clearly and concisely, with practical and risk-based recommendations.
- Tracking actions and following up on remediation.
What you’ll bring:
These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
- Experience in either Internal Audit, Assurance, or Compliance Controls Testing.
- Knowledge of Corporate and Investment Banking products and services.
- Attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication.
It would also be nice for you to have:
- Excellent knowledge of key regulations, such as EMIR, MiFID II, MAR, Dodd-Frank, Volcker.
- Relevant Professional qualification, such as CISI, CFA, ACAMS, ACCA or equivalent.
- Spanish language would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Knowledge of Data Analytics and data interrogation techniques.
What else you need to know:
This role is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston. We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 3 days a week (pro-rata for part-time roles). If you apply for this role in this location, it’s important you consider your travelling distance, time, and cost from your home to the office location. We’re happy to discuss specific working patterns and arrangements within this hybrid approach during the recruitment process. If you’re interested in this role but with part-time hours or a job-share, we would still love to hear from you and discuss these.
