Key Accountabilities
- Strategic and Policy Development
The role involves leading the planning and development of HCUK\’s finance strategy under the guidance of the CFO and Finance Director. This includes coordinating annual business and department plans, finance policies, and procedures, managing change, and implementing new reporting approaches. Medium-term planning for resource allocation and team coordination is also essential. - Control Business Area
Managing, monitoring, and reporting internal controls in management accounting (budgeting, monthly closing, cost management, procurement) and financial accounting (tax, VAT, statutory reporting) are key responsibilities. - Technical
The Head of FP&A provides robust planning and forecasting. Their role includes directing technical activities, ensuring compliance with policy, legislative and regulatory requirements, developing new standards, systems and processes, and providing technical advice to the finance team, CFO, FD, and wider departments to support strategic and operational initiatives. - Continuous Improvement
Continuous evaluation and enhancement of the finance function are expected, including researching and implementing new approaches to maintain industry best practices and improve productivity. - Reporting
The role entails full responsibility for management financial reporting, including performance reports/key index, group and shareholder reports, board papers, stakeholder reporting, detailed analyses for senior management, and ad-hoc reports. - Committee Involvement
Supporting senior management and leading financial discussions through the Executive Finance Committee (EFC) with internal and external stakeholders is a critical aspect. - Business Intelligence Management
Managing HCUK\’s Business Intelligence function involves ensuring data consistency and completeness, leading automated reporting improvements, and coordinating cross-departmental training to promote BI usage. - People Development
The Head of FP&A is accountable for setting objectives, managing performance, ensuring training and support for two direct reports, and fostering learning and development opportunities for them and the wider team of five. - Risk and Compliance
Aligned with company risk and compliance policies, the role includes identifying risks, incidents, breaches, promoting awareness, and ensuring timely action. The position is designated as a Certified Person under the FCA\’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR).

Remuneration Package

- Salary range of £75,500 to £90,000 depending on experience.
- Annual bonus eligibility up to 15%.
- £6,000 annual cash car allowance.
- 30 days holiday plus bank holidays, with an additional day after five years.
