Santander Asset Management are looking for a Director, Infrastructure Credit - Alternative Investments, based out of London. As a Director within the Targeted Enhanced-Yield Infra Debt Fund, you will play a pivotal role in the sourcing, execution, and management of global infrastructure and energy private credit high-yield investments. This is a senior investment role with broad responsibility across origination, underwriting, structuring, execution, portfolio management and fund activity.
You will be expected to independently source and analyse investment opportunities, including originating directly with borrowers and leveraging relationships with sponsors, advisors, banks, asset managers and other market participants across Europe and the US. You will structure and negotiate transactions, conduct comprehensive financial, ESG, technical and legal reviews, and take responsibility for preparing well-reasoned investment materials and presenting proposals to the fund’s Investment Committee. Working closely with senior management, you will help implement the fund’s investment strategy, ensuring disciplined risk management and sustainable long-term value creation. Alongside execution responsibilities, you will contribute to ongoing portfolio monitoring, produce clear and timely investor reporting, support fundraising activity, and build strong relationships with sponsors, advisors, counterparties and institutional clients.
This role requires an accomplished senior infrastructure credit investor with a demonstrated track record of sourcing, leading, structuring, executing and managing high-yield / junior infrastructure credit transactions. The successful candidate will bring strong autonomy and judgement, broad sector and geographic exposure, including experience in US transactions, and the credibility to command confidence in both internal and external forums.
To succeed in this role, you will:
- Evaluate investment opportunities in the infrastructure and energy high-yield private credit markets, leveraging relationships with companies, sponsors, advisors, banks, and asset managers across geographies.
- Originate directly with borrowers and through broader market channels to build a differentiated pipeline of investment opportunities across Europe and the US.
- Undertake the preliminary structuring and perform detailed credit, business model, and risk analyses of transactions, taking primary responsibility for drafting and preparing screening materials, investment committee memoranda, and related documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence processes, including financial modelling, legal reviews, ESG assessments, and analysis of technical, regulatory, commercial and market risks, ensuring robust and well-documented investment recommendations.
- Perform detailed cash flow modelling and cash extraction analysis to evaluate debt service capacity, downside scenarios, covenant resilience and overall investment sustainability.
- Drive the execution of approved transactions, leading negotiations of term sheets, financing agreements, and ancillary legal documentation, while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement and monitor Investment Committee decisions across the daily activities of the fund, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Actively contribute to the ongoing monitoring of portfolio assets, including performance analysis, covenant compliance, ESG reporting, valuation input, and financial performance tracking.
- Be actively involved in fund and asset performance reporting to investors, including preparation of regular updates, participation in investor communications, and contribution to NAV calculation and review processes.
- Support the fundraising activity for the fund, including preparation of marketing and due diligence materials and participation in selected investor interactions where appropriate.
- Collaborate with senior management in the development of new investment strategies and thematic priorities within the infrastructure and energy private credit space.
- Mentor and coach junior colleagues, fostering a high-performance and mission-driven investment culture.
