We are seeking an enthusiastic Systems Support Engineer to join a production support team within the Trading Platforms division of the Enterprise Services CIO. The team support systems used by multiple business areas including the Front and Middle Office, Operations, Finance, Risk and Compliance. The systems and solutions that we maintain serve to support the treasury function and market activities that are essential to running a ring-fenced bank in the UK. In this way we are key to Santander UK’s purpose of helping people and businesses prosper.

As a Systems Support Engineer embedded within a business aligned team, you will be responsible for the monitoring, tuning, reliability, security and resilience of multiple applications.

Our application estate is complex and technically diverse, so we require engineers who relish this diversity and can apply their broad technical skills and exceptional communication skills to continually improve the stability of our platforms and to optimise our solutions delivery.

If you are a delivery driven Systems Support Engineer, and you enjoy working in a fast-paced, highly interactive environment, then this could be the role for you.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Configuring, monitoring, and tuning of systems to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and availability.

  • Collaborating closely with software development engineers to ensure continual improvements to the performance, security, resilience, and reliability of the solutions.

  • Engaging closely with the bank’s platforms engineers and cyber protect teams to keep abreast of changes, and to ensure adherence to policies.

  • Configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of batch jobs using our Control-M scheduler.

  • Responding and addressing production incidents and alerts, including communication to stakeholders.

What you’ll bring:

  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Server OS, and associated scripting languages (Bash, Python, Powershell)

  • RDB experience, ideally SQL Server and Oracle

  • Understanding of networking and security fundamentals – encryption, certificate management etc.

  • Experience of Dynatrace

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • A working knowledge and understanding of GenAI tools (specify Tools used within your Team)

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Control-M

  • Any experience of continuous integration and continuous delivery practices and tooling, specifically GitHub.

  • Expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, ideally OpenShift.

This role is based in Triton Square, London

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).
